THE LEADER’S PRAYER

“He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.” Psalms 144:2 NIV

Leadership is defined as the ability of an individual or group to guide, lead or influence groups, individuals or organizations. It is also a gift that God gives one, and every man who is faithful in stewarding their place of power is indeed a blessed man. In our theme scripture, David prays this prayer after he had conquered many territories, been chased down by Saul to kill him, received a myriad of men and their families in his cave as he hid from the king, all wanting to serve and submit under him.

Contextually, any of these individuals could easily turn their backs on David at any moment, but David was unlike any other king even in hiding — he did nothing unless it pleased the Lord. Every leader whether in worldly matters or in the church should always be conscious that it is a grace to maintain your natural subjects subject, and your conquered subjects peaceful. Men and women of God in leadership, except the Lord preserves to you the mighty influence which ensures obedience and evokes enthusiastic loyalty, your leadership won’t yield much fruit.

Be men of prayer, whatever your endeavor is. The Lord rejoices in blessing those that serve him and his people justly. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. I know that as an ambassador of Christ I lead more than I may ever know. I yield to your faithful spirit at work in me to do unto others as I would like done unto me and submit to wisdom that only you give to keep the hearts of men peaceable where you appoint me a leader. I rely entirely on your help, that my deeds may glorify you, in Jesus name!
