THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (II)
“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26 NIV
The Holy Spirit is your greatest teacher. The word of God cannot make sense apart from the Holy Spirit because it is he that knows the mind of God and reveals the bottomless things of his heart. He is also the one who bears witness with your own spirit that what you are reading is truth, that what you are sensing is a conviction and gradually changes the affections of your heart and matures you into the ways of the Lord.
He is also the advocate because he is the spirit in Christ that pleads with God for the pardon of our sins. Without him there is no meaning for what we believe for it is by his power that Christ rose from the dead. It is through him that the Apostles were able to accurately remember every word Christ spoke to and before them, and record it for us to read long after the Lord had ascended.
Child of God, acquaint yourself with the spirit of God you have freely received. Listen and yield, ask him for wisdom, understanding and knowledge and you will experience the fullness of the life of God in you.
Prayer: Father I thank you for the spirit of truth. I thank you for his gentleness and his grace in teaching me and divinely enabling me to abide by your precepts. I yield and take pleasure in following his lead for He does only as He sees you do. I cannot fail, I cannot go wrong under his patronage, in Jesus name. Amen!
