A FULLY FURNISHED BELIEVER

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” James 1:2-4 NLT

A psychology researcher once conducted an experiment where participants were asked to review a resume of someone’s life.

They were to imagine this person was their child and then decide which parts of the life story they would erase. Many immediately removed any signs of struggle or hardship. One believer, however, viewed the experiences differently. As they read through the resume, they considered that these challenges could be the very moments that would lead their child to God, that might draw them to cry out to Him. In today’s passage, James reminds us that while trials may not be directly caused by God, they fall within His control and can be used for our good.

Some of the most powerful testimonies we celebrate today were forged in the fires of difficulty, proving God’s unwavering faithfulness to us. Beloved, the trial you face today might be the very thing that propels you toward your next level—whether in your career, family, or relationships. God does not waste pain; when we surrender it to Him, nothing is lost, and nothing is beyond His redemption. Let your life reflect the source of your confidence—let those around you see where your trust lies. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for this word. I have faith that nothing dies in your hands, and to this I commit all that concerns me to you who is able to keep it until that day. I am strengthened in my inner man because I am learned and reconciled to truth, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
