A LIFE OF INTERCESSION

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy” Philippians 1:3-4 NIV

One of the things the Lord taught me early as I journeyed with Him was that there is no such things as coincidences. The Lord is in every detail and if men are keen and attuned, it is impossible not to notice Him in everything.

An example that is all too common among us all is thinking of people. It is not a coincidence when you are going about your day and a person you have not seen or heard from for a while crosses your mind vividly enough for you to notice. If at every such thought you took a moment to pray for them, thank God for their life and what He is doing in it, think of how much every man somewhere would be covering a sister/ brother. You may wonder but how do I know what to pray for? That is what the spirit is there for, the thought of them is his primary attempt to engage your mind, and if you respond to it by not dismissing it as a random thought the next instructions may follow.

It could be to pray in the spirit and not necessarily with your understanding, or you may think of them alongside a scenario and that could be the very place you stand in the gap for them.

Child of God you may have wondered how it can be possible to fulfill Paul’s command to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)? This is how! Respond to the promptings of the spirit at all times and your life will become a prayer. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this word. I abide in the place of prayer because I have learnt to acknowledge and to respond to the promptings of the spirit swiftly. May your glory be revealed in the places you assign me to stand in the gap for, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
