AVOIDING DIVISIONS (II)
“If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died.” Romans 14:15 NIV
As we learnt yesterday, weakness is not in what you do not know but in allowing what you know to become the major catalyst for divisiveness. There is a fine line however that we must address; not destroying the work of God does not mean compromising on things ethical and divine.
The way of love, as portrayed by Christ Himself is through relationship. Many of our divisions arise from our selfish human desire to be right, and because we tend to speak more than we listen we miss opportunities to see other perspectives. There is a reason that scripture advises us to be slow to anger, quick to listen, slow to speak because in there we are able to have or give an opening for witnessing to one another.
There is no greater opportunity discerner than the Holy Spirit and He is at work in you. Yield and trust Him.
Prayer: Father I thank you for this word. I am a tamed and learned spirit and seek to feel after your heart in all my endeavors. May it be said of me that I advanced the work of God with every opportunity before me, in Jesus name. Amen!
