FAMILIAR PLACES

“Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” Mark 6:4 NIV

Many of us know someone whether family, friend, or colleague who will never see us as vessels of God, no matter the miracles or signs God works through us.

Even Jesus faced this, as familiarity often breeds contempt. As believers, we too can fall into this trap, missing out on what God wants to do through others simply because we know them too well or view them a certain way. Child of God, learn to receive from God’s messengers with humility, regardless of your familiarity with them.

Do not be like the Pharisees who rejected the very Savior they had long awaited. Be open to the ways God chooses to work. Selah.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for the graces you have surrounded me with among my friends, community and family. Help me discern what you are doing and through whichever vessel, that I may never overlook the work of your hands. I keep an open heart, sieving through the many voices to partake from the ones you have ordained for me, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
