FINISHING WELL

“For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” John 6:38 NKJV

I have spent this week emphasizing the reality of the spiritual realm being the primary driving force of our faith. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word. The word calls the things that be not as though they were, and it says the lamb of God was slain before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8).

What this means is simply the fact that Jesus’ mark of success was to finish the assignment of He that sent Him. On a day like this, what we reflect upon is the challenging thought that being fully man, He (Jesus) was capable of changing His mind, clinging to the fame and power He had while on earth, loving the praises of men and considering them; He was able to do His will and choose His way — but He did not.

On countless occasions, the Son of God prioritized the will of He that sent Him and this He did, until all that had been done long before time was fulfilled. Child of God, this is the reason you and I boast in the cross, this is why a somber night where darkness permeated the earth and agony for the hearts that loved Him is GOOD NEWS to us. Jesus Christ finished his assignment, He did the will of He that sent Him and He finished well.

You can only finish well when you know what you ought to do. You can only know what to do when told by who sends you. You can only be sent if you are willing!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. My prayer is this: your will, not my own, in Jesus name. Amen!

CI.
