HOPE REVIVED
“But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.” Luke 1:13 NIV
The scriptures tell us both Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth were old in age. The literal translation of the angel’s announcement was ‘the prayer you stopped praying has been answered’.
Sometimes, God’s promises feel delayed, and it’s tempting to take matters into our own hands—especially in today’s world of rapid scientific progress. But this scripture reminds us that while we may grow discouraged and give up on long-held hopes, God does not. Zechariah remained faithful in his priestly duties, and in God’s perfect timing, his deepest desires long forgotten, were fulfilled.
As we delight in the Lord, we can trust that He will fulfill the desires of our hearts according to His will.
Prayer: Father I thank you for this gift. I take courage and strength in my inner man knowing that you make all things beautiful in its time. I trust in the plan you have appointed for my days and seek your guidance to finish my race well, in Jesus name. Amen!
