ROYAL HUMILITY
“When they arrived in Bethlehem, Mary went into labor, and there she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped the newborn baby in strips of cloth, and Mary and Joseph laid him in a feeding trough since there was no available space in any upper room in the village.” Luke 2:6-7 TPT
Had Jesus been born in a five-star hotel, we might have attributed His glory to wealth. Had He been born to powerful politicians, we’d say, “See what power can do.” If He’d been born in David’s palace, we might have accused God of favoritism.
But Jesus, God in the flesh, chose to be born to a humble peasant and a carpenter, showing us what only God can do. Humility isn’t about doing things we dislike to appear pious. As evangelist Andrew Murray put it, it’s about surrendering our lives to Christ that He may live His through us.
Just as the King of the Universe humbled Himself in a modest family, we should not exalt outward circumstances or possessions, but follow Christ’s example of unwavering obedience to God, who had everything yet considered it all loss.
Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. May your spirit continue to strengthen me as I keep in step with your way. To love you is to keep your commands, and I willfully dedicate my life to this matter, in Jesus name. Amen!
