LITTLE LEAVEN (III)

“The Lord said to Joshua, “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face? Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions.” Joshua 7:10-11 NIV

The fascinating thing about this story is that one man’s sin cost an entire nation by bringing God’s wrath upon them. Israel was God’s chosen people, and He treated them as one people led by one God and responsible for one another.

This is how the body of Christ in essence should be operating, the sins of our brothers and sisters whether its across the street or around the globe should break our hearts and take us to our knees for one another. It should never be said of one minister that they rejoiced at another’s demise, or of one believer that out of jealousy or envy they withheld any help or even sympathy toward another believer in need.

If we are one body, Christ’s body, should we not care for the leg, the arm or the eye with the consciousness that if one of our own body parts ails it affects the entire body? Absolutely! Many that are in the world are often repelled by the disunity present among us. Let us therefore aim to be our brothers’ keepers, for in the eyes of the Lord we are one people.

Praise God!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this word. Impress in our spirits a profound conviction to see and take action on the things that cause any divisions among children of God. It will be said of us that we care for one another as we care for ourselves, to the glory of your name. Amen!

CI.
