LOVING NEIGHBOR AS SELF

“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3-4 NKJV

Esteeming others better than yourself is not an easy task to accomplish.

Thankfully, the Lord Himself has given us a model, Jesus Christ and a helper, His Holy Spirit to help us through this command. It has been said times without number that humility is not about thinking less of yourself but thinking about yourself less. It is no wonder our biggest moral failures are deeply rooted in self-centeredness. The son of God who was worthy of esteeming Himself highly chose the position of a servant and if there be any willingness in us to truly follow Him, this same manner of life should be what dictates our own.

Child of God, let everything you do be a testament to this truth, that love was your chief motive. Praise the Lord!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for this truth. I thank you for granting us humble hearts that see others’ needs before our own. By your spirit, we honor You by serving those around us, loving and esteeming our neighbors more significant than ourselves , to the glory of your name. Amen!
