MAINTAINING A CHILDLIKE HEART

“But to Israel he says, All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and defiant people.” Romans 10:21 CSB

We hear testimonies of people who God met in the most unfathomable circumstances all the time. Most of these people grew up in different religions, worshipping idol gods, the universe, certain prophets or not believing at all, yet when their day of visitation comes, they take it with a clean heart and childlike faith, resulting in mighty works done through them.

An example would be the late Nabeel Qureshi, author of Seeking Allah, finding Jesus who went all over the world preaching the Gospel after his encounter. We know of David Yonggi Cho, a former buddhist who served the Lord mightily, pastoring his growing 830,000 member congregation after his encounter with Jesus as a bedridden young man.

We’ve heard of political activist Bilquish Sheikh who became a Christian missionary in Pakistan after her conversion from encountering God as father. Countless are the testimonies we have witnessed over time, yet in our theme scripture we read a story of God’s dismay towards Israel’s unbelief and disobedience.

Proximity breeds familiarity, familiarity in its turn breeds contempt and this is the disease Israel and many believers succumb to, hindering the work of the Lord in and through them. Child of God, don’t ever grow so familiar, irreverent, unmoved or loose awe and wonder in your God!

The best way to do this is to never grow weary of giving thanks, be it for the big miracles or the mundane things of everyday. This does not only please the Father, but it communicates that you listen to and acknowledge Him in all your ways! Hallelujah.

Prayer: Father I thank you for this word. As it is written, I acknowledge you in all my ways that you may direct my paths. I live in awe and wonder of who you are and your character displayed in all of creation. I can never take it for granted, nor refrain from telling it on the mountains that you may be glorified, in Jesus name. Amen!
