OF STRANGE DOCTRINES

“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.” Colossians 2:8 NIV

Recently I was in a conversation with a dear minister who had been tried and tested with really difficult circumstances that anyone would empathize. While they swear it did not change anything in regard to how they love the Lord, a stark error was highlighted to me the most. Everything in the trial, instead of fastening like good nails the promises of God in His word, got this good man instead find ways to justify and explain how it was God’s will.

As he went on with his lamentation, he succeeded to paint God as author of evil, as one who will do what he wants regardless of the prayers of the saints, as one who shuts his ears when his children call unto Him. Child of God, Romans 8:28 says ALL THINGS work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purposes! God may allow affliction, but its with the underlying promise to you and the unchanging reality that you know all things (1 John 2:20), he has provided a way out of all of them (1 Cor 10:13), that none of these weapons will prosper and that if any tongue says otherwise YOU WILL condemn it (Isaiah 54:17).

When men are not taught to use the Word of God as the sword it is, they teach from their broken hearts and tainted experiences giving strange doctrines to the Lord’s people.

Search the book of the Lord and study keenly everything that says “God is” and hold fast to it as His nature regardless of what circumstances state. Secondly, seek out what He says He has “given/ made you” and believe Him over every noise. This is the way you fight as a victor! Hallelujah.

Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. I thank you for the power that dwells in your word for you have exalted it above your name. I know how to seek out not just your promises but your nature through your word that I may be found standing in my sure time of trial. May my eyes never behold any other truth than that of your son Jesus Christ, in his name I pray. Amen!
