OF TEACHERS REVEALED

“Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them.” Isaiah 30:20 NIV

When you read Isaiah 30 in context, it becomes clear that it is God who is pursuing the sinner. The voice of grace speaks even to the back that is turned against it. Strikingly, the further the sinner slips, the more fiercely grace presses in. God’s love, relentless and unyielding, refuses to give up the chase.

Isaiah, in our theme verse, reveals a truth often overlooked: your teachers are never far from you. Even in affliction, even when life tastes of hardship, the Lord ensures that instruction is not withheld. The Holy Spirit—our first and faithful teacher—guides us into truth, grants discernment, teaches us what to speak(Matthew 10:19), and comforts us.

But the Spirit also works through people. God raises men to raise other men. In every generation, there will be someone greater than you, just as you may be greater than another. Wisdom lies not in comparing ranks but in knowing how to humbly walk with both.

To live as though you need no teacher is pride. An unteachable heart is an unstable one. The refusal to learn is not strength but weakness masked in arrogance. Don’t rob yourself of the blessing of revealed teachers—those God has placed in your path for instruction, sharpening, and growth.

See them. Honor them. Receive from them.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for your relentless pursuit. Open my eyes to see the teachers You’ve placed around me. Give me a humble heart to receive correction, wisdom, and insight. Help me discern Your voice—whether by Your Spirit or spoken through those You’ve raised up for my growth. Let pride find no root in me, and let my life be marked by a teachable spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
