OF ZEAL WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE

“Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.” Romans 10:1-2 NIV

One of the most dangerous things that can happen to a believer is allowing their zeal to inform their knowledge, rather than allowing knowledge to be the foundation of their zeal.

In our theme scripture, Paul expresses his deep desire for Israel’s salvation. Though they were God’s chosen people, they struggled to accept the Gospel and recognize Christ. Logically, they should have been the most receptive, yet they resisted the very fulfillment of the promises they long awaited. This same pattern still shows up today. Many believers get caught up in doing things for God, instead of seeking God Himself—allowing Him to accomplish His will through yielded and obedient hearts.

God doesn’t simply want to use us; He desires that we become so united with Him that everything we do flows naturally from a place of deep intimacy and understanding.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for this word. I offer You my heart as a living sacrifice, for You alone know the hearts of men and can transform them when they yield. Let the meditations of my heart and the words of my mouth be pleasing to You above all things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
