OUR PRIMARY GOAL

“So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.” 2 Corinthians 5:9 NIV

Living a life that pleases God is not passive; it requires intentional willpower to keep Him at the center of our hearts.

Our goal is not to please God through works to earn anything, but through the understanding that righteousness is imputed to us by faith. From this foundation, we are compelled to live out the richness of that reality in every aspect of our lives. Whatever we do—whether serving the Lord or His people—if it’s not done with the primary goal of pleasing Him, we miss the mark.

The ultimate aim is to keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. This is the root of self-serving ministries and the dry spiritual experiences we see today. As Paul warned, we cannot continue by works what began by faith. Only the Holy Spirit, in those who yield to Him, can enable us to be pleasing to God—convicting our hearts, guiding us, and healing our guilt and shame when the enemy attacks.

Praise the Lord!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for this word. I know that you alone cause me to will and do according to your good pleasure. I yield my spirit to you and consciously take inventory of my life to see if it measures up to the standard you have set for me by your word. It will be said of me that I lived a life that is glorifying to my master, in Jesus name, Amen!
