PRIDE & JEALOUSY

“But how Esau will be ransacked, his hidden treasures pillaged! All your allies will force you to the border; your friends will deceive and overpower you; those who eat your bread will set a trap for you, but you will not detect it.” Obadiah 1:6-7 NIV

The strained relationship between Edom and Israel dates back to the conflict between Esau and Jacob, when the younger brother stole the birthright (Genesis 27).

Later, Edom denied Israel passage during the Exodus (Numbers 20:14), becoming enemies of God because of their opposition to His people. Obadiah’s prophecy warns that jealousy and treachery are never overlooked. From this, we learn the importance of forgiveness, trusting God for vindication, and the power of humility to soften even the hardest of hearts.

Child of God, remember that our Lord is a just judge who defends the righteous and judges all matters with your destiny in mind. Rest in this truth, for in it, we find peace. Praise the Lord!

Prayer: Father, thank You for this word. I trust in Your just judgment and surrender all that concerns me into Your hands. Soften my heart toward situations that could offend me, and teach me to see others through Your eyes, knowing we have all fallen short. My greatest desire is to always do Your will. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
