Technology has been an instrumental addition to our world in this day and age. It has made things such as remote work, online shopping and online schooling amongst others, all possible which at one point in time was unfathomable. According to Linkedin’s 2050 events predictions, it is expected that by the year 2050, artificial intelligence (A.I) will be used for more personalized assistance and support in various areas of health, services, retail, architecture among many, freeing up human agents to work on other complex issues.

When it comes to the Gospel however, it is important that we understand where to draw the line in matters concerning the available devices provided by the world. Emerging chatbots and social apps have made a promise to make you a better speaker, teacher, songwriter, artist by simply using a few prompts but remember our eternal commitment is to truth( John 14:6)and truth is weighed by its incorruptibility (1 Peter 1:23).

First and foremost, such search engines are made to receive prompts from natural human language, which in itself is inferior to any of the languages in which God has seen fit to express Himself through scripture. Secondly, when it comes to matters of God, we are seeking for truth and truth is older than language, truth existed before any man ever spoke a word (John 1:1; John 14:6).

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. John 17:17KJV

The Bible is a tool that God has enabled in our midst that we may have ground on which to base our search for truth. By the person of the Holy Spirit, we are able to test and prove what is true because it bears witness with our own spirit (Romans 8:16) in agreement of our identity as His children. In our theme scripture, we read that sanctification comes through truth.

Some of these large language models such ChatGPT, BERT, LaMDA and the likes are unable to provide accurate interpretation of scripture because algorithms put together an array of books, words, papers, studies all written by men and extrapolate different meanings to suit the inputted prompt. In other words, these platforms are by design not conceived with any source of truth but mere functions designed by men, which likewise may be found in error or fail to recognize truth when it stumbles across it.

As we evolve as a society, the rise of computer technologies evolves along with us and takes more responsibilities from the hands of men, handing it to systems and bots – in there removing the touch of humanity that connects us to the Spirit of Truth. Child of God, as much as we are called to go from glory to glory, let there be application of the wisdom of God by His spirit that we may not suppress the authenticity and power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish His mandate – teaching us into all things (John 14:26).

There are mysteries in God that can only be demystified through intimacy with Him and prayer, and to such no amount of technology and evolution should surpass our desire as ministers unto God to seek His Heart by the ways He has promised to be found (Jeremiah 29:13). Never forget that! [Selah]

If you have never given your life to Jesus Christ, and you feel that this is the perfect time, pray this prayer:

“Lord Jesus, I thank you because you died for my sins and you were raised for my glory. Today, I receive you as my Lord and Savior. I am born again. Amen.”
