THE FULLNESS OF TIME

“For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.” 1 Corinthians 13:9-10 NIV

When man refuses to acknowledge the extent of his limitations, a dangerous and pompous pride takes up root in his heart, causing him to deny his humanity and resist reverence for God’s sovereignty.

In our theme scripture, Paul speaks of the fact that whatever we know or perceive; whether prophetically or by the inner witness of the Spirit—is only in part. This implies that there is a fullness set to come with the Lord’s return, a completeness that will settle the restless hearts of men once and for all and restore them to undivided fellowship with God.

Until that day, our knowledge remains fragmentary. Our understanding of God’s purposes, His timing, and even His ways often comes to us like glimpses through a narrow window. We see enough to walk forward in faith, but not enough to boast in certainty. In His wisdom, God has chosen not to reveal everything at once. Instead, He gives light sufficient for obedience while reserving fullness for the day when Christ is revealed.

This is both a humbling and comforting reality. It humbles us because it reminds us that no man possesses the full counsel of God in this age. But it comforts us because it assures us that our unanswered questions are not evidence of God’s absence. They are simply evidence that the story is not yet complete.

We believers, therefore, learn to walk in faithful dependence. We steward the portion of understanding that God has given, while trusting that the fullness belongs to Him alone. What we now grasp in fragments will one day be seen in perfect clarity when the Lord Himself brings all things to completion. Hallelujah !

Prayer: My Father, I thank you for this wisdom. I thank you for teaching my heart to walk humbly within the limits of what you have revealed. Guard me from the pride that demands full understanding before obedience. Help me to trust that the fragments I see today are part of a greater fullness that will be revealed in your perfect time. Until that day, anchor my faith in your sovereignty and keep my hope fixed on the return of Christ. Amen.
