THE HOW OF FAITH

”Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you’ve got, be resolute, and love without stopping.“ 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 MSG

One of the things that have made Paul a distinctive teacher for our dispensation is the simplicity and straightforwardness of some of the instructions he has given the New Testament believer.

In our theme scripture, he sums up what a christian conduct should primarily consist of. Keeping your eyes open is essentially being on your guard because of two big reasons: you do not wrestle against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12) and your adversary prowls around like a roaring lion looking for who to devour (1 Peter 5:8).

These are two powerful things that can represent an immense stumbling block, yet very simple that they can easily be neglected and become the very obstacle that ensnares you.

Holding tight to your convictions is prioritizing your commitment and submission to God above everything that pulls your attention, whether you are making life changing decisions, doing things which you carry skill and knowledge for and all the mundane in between.

Finally, giving it all you got and being resolute walk hand in hand with holding tight to your conviction, whom you have believed and allowing His love to flow in and through you as the fueling force for all your desires and your doing.

Child of God, the things of God are not supposed to be complicated formulas that fill your heart with drudgery at the thought of it. Instead they are a continuous opportunity to become as willing children that run errands for their beloved Father with the pride and joy that comes with such an entrusting. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. I am resolute in my conviction concerning the counsel of your spirit. It is not in me to resist the leading of the Holy Spirit and because I am inclined to obey, He helps me in my weaknesses that you may be glorified in and through me, in Jesus name. Amen!
