THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (III)
“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 NLT
We cannot possibly exhaust what is there to speak of the Holy Spirit! As we have learnt the last couple of days, the spirit is primarily our teacher, advocate, and catalyst for growth and maturity in Christ when we yield to Him.
Allow me to close with the kind of spiritual gifts which the spirit gives to enable us to extend outwardly the fruit of what has been churned inwardly. In our theme scripture, Paul tells us that though our gifts are different they are supplied by the same spirit. This means that we need each other in the body of Christ.
God is spirit, and spirits need a body to move through in order to execute a mandate on earth. That is why the man Jesus Christ had to take on flesh and blood in order to demonstrate the fullness of God the spirit. And today, you and I have the privilege of being called sons and hosting the same spirit which brought Christ from the dead.
With this understanding child of God, you cannot view another brother or sister as an opponent because you know that everything that is abundant in them is complementary to what is lacking in you. The opposite is also true.
Let therefore be no strife, envy or jealousy among us because all things are ours through Christ who has reconciled it to Himself and gave us all power to occupy by giving us Himself. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. I thank you for the wisdom to receive from one another as members of one body. I thank you for the fullness and diversity in your church. I thank you that what is different about each one of us is what qualifies us to be one unit. If you want to do anything in this generation Lord, find me worthy as host of your spirit, in Jesus name! Amen.
