THE REWARD OF OBEDIENCE
“The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him.” Deuteronomy 28:9 NIV
Many are the rewards of obedience but the most meaningful is that it establishes holiness in the hearts of men.
In our theme scripture, we read that God establishes you as a holy people just as he promised but that is if you obey Him and keep his commands. A little further in the same passage it says: “Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you.”
When a man is obedient to the Lord, the blessings and goodness that pursue them are evident to all. The ease with which such a man goes through life with proves that there is a grace at work in them. It doesn’t mean hard times or sorrows never happen, but the evil that may accompany it cannot stand in the presence of God’s holiness to which they have yielded and surrendered.
Child of God, trust and obey. Test the Lord on this one matter, and you will have no room for the blessings which follow your sacrifice. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. As the psalmist observed, it is with joy that I draw from the wells of salvation. I have proved you over and over again and I know that I am blessed in my coming and in my going for your ways never fail, in Jesus name! Amen.
