THE RHYTHM OF GRACE
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 MSG
When Jesus says his burden is light and his yoke is easy, he literally means it.
Our Lord was the best example we could look to. He did not wait to teach his disciples in some classroom every day at a specific time. He met them in their day to day, walked with them teaching them, worked with them, healed and taught on the way between towns and cities.
Life did not have to stop for him to serve God. So it is for us, religion had many of us think God wants a day of your week or chunks of your time when you can finally be quiet and not the day to day, the mundane, the baby cries, the busy schedules in which you spend majority of your time.
Child of God, the grace of God does not just bloat out your sin; it is also designed to enable you to keep constant uninterrupted communion with your God without being discharged of your other duties. It is wired in such a way that it will cause you to do seemingly hard things smoothly because the holy spirit guides you as one redeeming the time. It may sound figurative, but his burden cannot be a heavy one neither can his yoke be a hard one for God is not a man to lie and he will be true even if it makes man a liar.
I invite you to examine your life today and see where you are heavy laden and sincerely cast that burden upon Him because he cares for you. Praise the Lord!
Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. I have exercised my spirit to stay in communion with you because your holy spirit, my helper, leads me with strategy and in line with your will. I am an efficient follower of Christ because I yield daily to the one who knows his heart! I cast my cares on one with broader shoulders, a wider heart that can bear it and still care for me. Far be it from me to refuse the hand of fellowship extended to me in Jesus name! Amen.
