THE TESTS OF HUMILITY (I)
“Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you— for you know in your heart that many times you yourself have cursed others. All this I tested by wisdom and I said, “I am determined to be wise”— but this was beyond me.” Ecclesiastes 7:21-23 NIV
There is a particular wisdom in knowing what things to address and what things to let go of.
Not every rumor, slander or misunderstanding deserves your attention. Sometimes it may feel like you are loosing or being walked all over but certain battles are not worth you fighting. Often times, such battles are best fought by the Lord Himself and He does give greater victory than what you would have done for yourself.
When offense grips your heart, learn to pause and ask the Lord what your next move should be. If it is to address things, ask for wisdom on when and how, if it is to overlook it ask for grace and peace of mind and heart.
You do not loose anything but the snare of pride and momentary gratification. Praise the Lord!
Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. It is not always easy to tame the impulses of the flesh especially when I feel wronged, yet I trust you to correct the wrongs of time. Thank you for going before me to set my future right and behind me to keep me from my past’s harm. To you belong all glory and honor, in Jesus name. Amen!
