UPROOTING IDOLS

“The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by human hands. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. They have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.” Psalms 135:15-18 NIV

An idol is defined as an image or representation of a god used as an object of worship.

We have often heard many things in our modern day defined as idols because they may occupy a significant space in our heart than it needs. However much this may be true, it is only in part.

Our God is not to be apportioned just a little space here and there in our lives, our routines, our devotion and whatever else spare time we may have. He is to so occupy our hearts and souls that everything else is arranged, cared for and treated as a response of His dwelling in us.

Unlike any other gods as likened in our theme scripture, He sees, He hears, He speaks, He gave us the breath in our lungs and is an ever present help in time of need. Above all else, becoming like Him is the best version of you that you can become and He has made it possible through the person of Jesus Christ.

Praise HIM!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. I thank you for being set apart, holy, unchanging, and trustworthy from age to age. You are enthroned in my heart and all that I am and hope to be is through the work of your spirit in me, to the glory of your name. Amen!
