THE TREASURE IN EARTHEN VESSELS (I)
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”
2 Corinthians 4:7 KJV
Often times we underestimate the limitations that we have as mortal men. We think we can do x amount of work until burn out hits. We think we can serve diligently without the strength God provides. You may think you will submit as a wife or lead as husband just because you love each other, only to realize it doesn’t work like that.
Many testimonies of great personal revivals are unfortunately marked by a tragic start, perhaps a near death experience, a report of an incurable disease, or loss of a loved one then suddenly, one remembers God. While the end of things is good if in His hands, it should not necessitate such extremes for man to remember the lover of his soul. The apostle Paul gives us a very pertinent reminder in truth that there is such a treasure in man that is divine and supernatural yet does not discharge him of his humanity and feebleness. He goes on to tell us why it was designed as such, that we may reflect the presence and power of another who is working in and through us.
Child of God, it is imperative for you to know that you were never designed to operate apart from God’s help through his spirit and divine enablement. Things may give you the impression to work for a given amount of years but human strength on its own will inevitably fail!
Lean entirely on the person of the Holy Spirit whom you have received to Christ for his burden is truly light and his yoke is very easy. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. The help of the holy spirit is my reality and it has consequently enabled me to do hard things effortlessly. I exercise my self daily to let him lead and counsel me, even in that which I have skill and capacity for, for I know he knows the heart of God, and his ways which may seem foolish to man. I excel in all my endeavors because I know the secret of God, to the glory of your name, Amen!
