”Listen as Wisdom calls out! Hear as understanding raises her voice! On the hilltop along the road, she takes her stand at the crossroads. By the gates at the entrance to the town, on the road leading in, she cries aloud, “I call to you, to all of you! I raise my voice to all people.“ Proverbs 8:1-4 NLT

When we talk about wisdom, different ideas come to mind depending on how it has been defined for you. For some, wisdom is characterized by their academic prowess, for others it is their quick wits in applying logic to every thing, for others it is age and experience that qualify one to be wise.

For children of God however, all that represents worldly wisdom is only accessory. It is an inevitable addition that follows you just like goodness and mercy do because what defines wisdom for us is how well we know and relate to Christ.

At the beginning of Solomon’s proverbs, he states that their purpose is to teach people wisdom (skill in spiritual matters) and discipline, it is to help them understand the insights of the wise (prudence, prosperity).

Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help them do what is right, just, and fair. These proverbs will give insight to the simple, knowledge and discernment to the young (purpose and discretion).

Every man who has the wisdom of God doesn’t only know what to speak, but when and how to speak it. Such a man would speak to an eight year old and be understood as well as seventy year old. It is no marvel Paul says the wisdom of this world shall be reduced to nothing (1 Corinthians 3:19),it limits you only to the end for which you sought it.

Child of God, love the wisdom of God, look for it through His Word, pursue it until you understand it, obey and hold fast to it, and surely your paths is inevitably made straight. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this word. I am ever after your wisdom for it builds me, it establishes me and it makes available all that you have set in place to favor me. I have a timely word for all men in all seasons for your wisdom at work in me is what speaks. I am confident in all my dealings because such wisdom is timeless and applicable to every circumstance, heavenly or earthly. I bless your name for Christ in me, my hope of glory, Amen!
