TRUSTING WHEN IT HURTS
“He trusts in the Lord,” they say, “let the Lord rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.” Psalms 22:8 NIV
No man would have been best placed to give this prophecy or write this psalm but David, of whom Jesus is a descendant.
One of the most painful and jarring things that can and most likely will happen to every believer who truly has put their trust in God, relying on no other wisdom of their own is when they seem forsaken. We see some of the most cruel words to the Christ himself in Matthew 27:39 : ‘you who could save everyone else why don’t you save yourself’. Truth is, when we resolve to hold fast to the word of the Lord, we must do so to the end.
Jesus would have totally called upon twelve legions of angels and nobody could have touched Him, but that would have diluted the authenticity of His testimony of one having come only to do the Father’s will. So it is in circumstances that may seem as though we have been forsaken.
In the wise words of the king of Israel: ‘let not the one who puts on his armor boast like the one who takes it off’ (1 Kings 20:11). Child of God believe TO THE END.
Prayer: Father I thank you for this word. My spirit is solely determined to stick to your word regardless of my circumstances. It will be said of me that I fought the good fight. It will be known of all men that the one who fights through me knows only how to win, in Jesus name. Amen!
