ALL GOOD AND PERFECT GIFTS
“See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.” Exodus 31:2-5 NIV
In our theme scripture, the Lord instructs Moses on how to build his temple but assigns and equips help to bring that to pass.
In there we see that all wisdom and skill is from the Lord, and for them he deserves to be gratefully extolled. Whether you weave baskets or teach sciences at an Ivy league, your skill and craft is a gift from God, which He is to be thanked for. Many people end up puffed up or idolizing their skills and exploits because they may not understand that all good and perfect gift is of God (James 1:17) and for it he should be exalted as we do all to glorify His name.
No man would suffer jealousy or envy if it was understood that our know hows can work in harmony for a greater good and not in rivalry for personal gain. It is when purpose is unclear that abuse is inevitable.
Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. There is nothing you have placed in the ability of man to do that is not for your glory. Teach us how to spend our energy right and exalt your name in all we partake in, in Jesus name. Amen!
