ETERNAL VALUE (II)
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV
Jesus of course does not mean that we shouldn’t work or cherish anything or anybody in our entourage.
But as we were reminded yesterday, we tend to count slowness in light of what is temporary, when God assigns times in light of what is eternal. The rewards of the Kingdom of God for our uncompromising devotion, our giving, serving, loving one another are nothing like those the world applauds.
You may be acknowledged, thanked, payed or not at all by the world yet in what touches eternity your wealth is incomparable. It is in this same spirit that we echo Paul’s words:
“ If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.” Galatians 1:10 NLT
Rejoice first and foremost in your audience of one, which is our Lord Jesus Christ. Praise Him!
Prayer: Father I thank you for this word. I thank you for the consoling power, the comfort and life that serving you single heartedly produces in my spirit. May it be known of me that you were my greatest treasure, in Jesus name. Amen!
