ETERNAL VALUE

“Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28 NLT

God is most interested in the character He builds in us than the things we merely get. Both are important, the only difference is one is of eternal value while the other is of temporary enjoyment.

Whether it is prophecies, whether it is tongues, marriages, jobs, schools, you name it, it will pass away. However, we who are still bound to our mortal bodies attach value to the latter, and feel distraught when our timing doesn’t match his.

We count slowness in light of what is temporary, when He assigns time in light of what is eternal. Though we ought to take care of our bodies as the Lord’s temple, we must be careful not to overindulge its desires and demands bringing judgment for both the body and the soul. Praise God!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this word. I hold fast to what is eternal. I endure and rejoice in every opportunity that tries and builds character that your name may be glorified in my life. To you belong all glory and honor, in Jesus name! Amen.
