EXPECTING GOOD (II)
“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.” 2 Peter 1:3-4 NLT
As we learnt yesterday, we have an unchanging promise and an unchanging promise keeper.
Our expectation of good to come should not be a passive or fearful one because He also tells us that He has given us everything we need to live the godly life which He recommends.
His kingdom is here now and our efforts to live kingdom minded does not have to start some future day to come, but now and today. If it is in generosity, Jesus has exceedingly modeled a life that gave even up to Himself.
If it is teaching, fellowship, sacrifice, love and compassion towards others, that too He embodied. And we have a seal in the person of the Holy Spirit that enables us to do just as our master, as we live yielded and obedient lives.
Be therefore encouraged, holding fast to this unchanging truth. You have all that you need to live a godly life! Praise the Lord.
Prayer : Father I thank you for this word. I thank you for the precious gift of your holy spirit that enables me to be kingdom minded and live a godly life in the world though not of it. May it be said that you found faith in my heart on the day of Christ, in your name I pray. Amen!
