EXTENDING FORGIVENESS
“A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.” Proverbs 19:11 NIV
Forgiveness is a powerful reflection of strength and maturity, especially when we have every reason not to forgive.
It’s a decision that requires divine wisdom, genuine integrity, and a heart that reflects God’s love. True forgiveness can’t be faked, nor can it have ulterior motives. If we try to fake it, eventually, the truth will surface. Proverbs 19:11 teaches us that, rather than getting caught up in petty offenses or reacting in anger, wisdom invites us to practice patience and self-restraint. It’s easy to respond impulsively when we feel hurt or provoked, but wisdom calls us to rise above those emotions and choose peace instead.
As children of God, peace and harmony are central themes throughout Scripture. There is glory in choosing the path of forgiveness and restraint. Don’t let minor offenses steal your peace or disrupt your spiritual position. Instead, walk in wisdom and choose to forgive, for this reflects the heart of God.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for this word. I embrace wisdom in my dealings, applying Your full counsel to my life. Open my eyes to any areas where I need transformation and help me extend forgiveness to others as You have forgiven me. To Your glory, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
