FERVOR AND ZEAL
“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.” Romans 12:11 NIV
The most dangerous place for a believer to be is the place of complacency. The opposite is also true, to have a zeal that is without knowledge and a fervor that cannot be tamed.
The place of complacency is when one has become lax, and feels like they know enough about church, about scripture, about God and about the community of believers to relax their grip. This is deception at its best.
The second is usually a great way to keep your hunger for the things of God, but it must be within the constraints of discipleship, submission to spiritual authority and correctly receiving/ interpreting the word of God. Bottom line is, God is infinite and as long as we live we will always have different aspects and dimensions of Him to learn and know according to the measure of faith given to every individual.
This cannot happen without fervor, zeal, and earnestness in service to the Lord. Praise the Lord!
Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. I am a student of principles and truths that your word trains me into and I abide by each one of them for my safety and spiritual growth. It shall be said of me that my will was bendable to the teaching of your spirit at work in me, in Jesus name! Amen.
