FIRST THINGS FIRST
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 NIV
This verse is often read as two separate thoughts, but it’s actually one continuous idea.
The renewal of your mind, which comes from turning away from sinful ways, gives you the ability to clearly understand God’s will and act on it in at moment’s notice. Renewing your mind means shifting your emotions and beliefs to align with God’s truth. As a wise man once said, it’s about being willing to reject the right to live for ourselves and instead, stand against sin.
If you keep following the ways of the world, you won’t be able to fully understand what God desires for you for your mind is corrupted. The world’s culture always follows its own agenda and its rulers’, which are both flawed and unreliable.
Choosing to follow God’s Word, even when it goes against popular opinion, is where real transformation begins. Selah!
Prayer: Father, I thank you for this truth. I yield to an unrestrained commitment to God. By it I give the Holy Spirit the opportunity to grant to me the holiness of Jesus Christ. My primary motivation for living is to be ruled by you, as the nature that rules me radically changes me, in Jesus name. Amen!
