FREE WILL (II)

“Now one day he went into the house to do his work, and none of the household servants were there. She grabbed him by his garment and said, “Sleep with me!” But leaving his garment in her hand, he escaped and ran outside.” Genesis 39:11-12 CSB

If you are honest about your weaknesses, it is easier to flee from them and the consequences that follow.

Nothing in our theme scripture suggests this woman was beautiful, but v6 does tell us how Joseph looked: handsome and well built.Knowing so could have easily gotten to his head, seeing she liked him and he didn’t have to do much work to persuade her, but he fled. He fled because he honored his master and his trust, he fled because he knew and feared God.

Child of God, scripture says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). To know and to love the one who first loved you emboldens you to say “the demands of love are so great on me that I can’t betray the one who loved me unconditionally”. Be sincere with yourself therefore, resist the devil, flee from situations that can stain your life and seek the Lord’s help when you need strength.

There is no temptation that happens to you that is uncommon, and out of all, He provides a way out to those who yield (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. You keep my feet from stumbling when I trust the full counsel of your word. It shall be said of me that I moved in wisdom in my time of temptation, in Jesus name. Amen!
