FRIENDS OF THE BRIDEGROOM (I)

“The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. He must become greater; I must become less.” John 3:29-30 NIV

John left every minister a pivotal instruction on how to deal with those entrusted to you as a shepherd.

As you deal with the Lord’s people, always search your heart for any signs of wanting or even having unintentionally occupied the bridegroom’s place in their hearts.
Study every individual and see to it that you do not become a necessity in their lives but simply one who points to the bridegroom until they can see. Many ministers tend to pervert the sanctity of this assignment either by enthroning themselves as bridegroom or by failing to discern when individuals lean on them more than they press in on the Master.

We must always decrease, and He must always Increase. Praise the Lord!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for this wisdom. I serve with the consciousness that all that you have placed in my care is only entrusted to me. I pray to serve faithfully, always pointing to the bridegroom that he may draw all men to himself, to the glory of your name. Amen!
