STAYING FOCUSED

“Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.” 2 Timothy 2:3-4 NIV

The spirit realm is often spoken of using military terminologies because there is real war against your soul and utmost discipline is of essence if you are going to be fruitful in any way.

In our theme scripture, Paul urges Timothy to avoid distractions that do not align with his devotion to God. Likewise, not everything in life requires our attention, especially if it does not strengthen our faith. The enemy seeks to disrupt our focus through offense, gossip, idolatry, or busyness that keeps us from God’s presence—these are the “civilian affairs” we must avoid.

Child of God, keep your hands clean and your heart pure from these things for such is the posture of those who will see God (Matthew 5:8). Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father, thank You for this truth. Help me remain focused on You. Create in me a clean heart and guide me in Your ways. I delight in following Your lead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
