FRIENDS OF THE BRIDEGROOM (II)
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 NIV
Matthew reminds us of the ultimate purpose of serving God: that others may witness our good deeds and, in turn, glorify our Father in heaven.
It’s good to do good—but if God is not the goal, then it’s all in vain. Many religions promote a kind of goodness based solely on external actions. Yet, this often results in a self-righteousness that is neither lasting nor spiritually fruitful. Child of God, any work done apart from the understanding that it is Christ working in and through you is a dead work.
In your own righteousness, even your best efforts are like filthy rags.
To Him alone belongs all glory, honor, and praise.
Amen.
Prayer: Father, thank You for calling me to be a friend of the Bridegroom. Help me to live in a way that reflects Your light and brings glory to Your name. May every good work flow from the life of Christ within me, and not from my own striving. Keep me from the trap of self-righteousness, and teach me to walk in humble dependence on You. Let my life be a testimony that draws others closer to You, the Bridegroom of our souls. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
CI.
