GLORY IN WEAKNESS (I)

“That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10 NLT

In her book Tramp for the Lord , watchmaker turned evangelist Corrie Ten Boom who survived the Nazi concentration camp, cold war and world war 2 wrote of a woman she met in Russia after the cold war.

This woman had been plagued by multiple sclerosis, a disease in which the immune system eats away protective coverings of the nerves. This Russian woman could only use her right index finger, and she spent hours, weeks and months bent over her typewriter with her single functional index finger to translate the Bible into Russian.

As Christians were being persecuted, the authorities thought she would simply die anytime from her disease so they didn’t pay no mind to her home, and left her husband to take care of her.

It was during this time that she shared that her disease had a purpose because the Lord worked through her weakness not just to make the word of God accessible to others but to conceal her from the enemy.

Child of God, our Father in heaven never wastes. Even more, He doesn’t waste something as costly as pain. As you wrestle with whatever could be ailing your body or soul, confident in your healing by His stripes, know also that He works through our weaknesses, and don’t miss the opportunity to still worship Him in your hardest time.

Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. I join in the cry of our fathers who knew to hope against hope, count all things but worthless, rejoice in affliction and pray without ceasing. I trust in your infinite power to turn around what the enemy means for evil into good, in Jesus name. Amen!
