GRIEVING WITH HOPE

“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 NIV

Grief can be an incredibly difficult experience for all of humanity, and God fully understands this.

For us as believers, however, death is not the end. We have witnessed the resurrection of our Savior, who promises to raise up those who have died in faith, with the same hope. This makes salvation even more precious, for it is not just a hope for the living, but for those who have passed on. It is also a source of comfort for those who lose loved ones in Christ, knowing that you will be reunited, and that this reunion will last for eternity. Take heart therefore, in your mourning, for it is a grief that is filled with hope. Finally, this is an invitation to consider receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

In His gentleness, these promises are not forceful, bur available only to those who choose both to live and die in Christ. Praise God!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for this comforting truth. I know that nothing dies in your hands for you are life, and the giver of life. I pray for my brothers and sisters who may be experiencing grief in any way, your name is a strong tower that the righteous can run to and be safe, in Jesus name. Amen!
