THE GRAVITY OF SIN

“In that day so few men will be left that seven women will fight for each man, saying, “Let us all marry you! We will provide our own food and clothing. Only let us take your name so we won’t be mocked as old maids.” Isaiah 4:1 NLT

When a plant is ruined from the root, it cannot be saved. The root is its main source of nourishment.

In the same way, sin deeply affects us and those around us, often without us realizing the far-reaching consequences. In Judah, sin—especially idolatry—led to devastating judgment. Many men died in battles or were disqualified from leadership, and this impacted families deeply. In that culture, women and children found security and honor under the protection of the man of the house. The sin of a few affected the whole nation. As believers, we must be intentional about sowing seeds of God’s Word and His ways into our families and communities. The sins of individuals shape the future of a nation, and many of today’s struggles come from issues we’ve grown numb to.

Let it be said of you that you faithfully planted seeds for Christ’s sake, influencing your household and the world around you.

Prayer: Father thank you for this counsel. I make decisions today with generations in mind. Your promise is for the righteous not to be forsaken and his seed not begging bread, and so is the inheritance of the saints. It will be said of me that I preached Christ with every chance and opportunity given me, to the glory of your name. Amen!
