GUARDING SEED
“Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.” Matthew 7:6 NKJV
One of the most fundamental lessons you can ever learn as a believer is to be a good steward of the intimations of Lord spoken to you and over you.
A story is given of one of Jacob’s sons named Joseph. He had dreams that were undeniably from God but he shared them to the wrong audience and before its appointed time (Genesis 37). As a result, he was sold into slavery by his brothers, that harbored hatred against him for he was loved much by their father.
Jesus gives us an analogy concerning how to steward such revelations and other weightier matters of the spirit. The terms dogs and swine in this context are not intended to insult anyone, but to demonstrate the importance of discerning who is able to steward a word, a message, an assignment planted as a seed at a given time. Likewise pets or animals generally don’t carry a sense of distinction between what is important and what is not, hence mistreating or abusing it. Though every word spoken to Joseph was going to be fulfilled since God doesn’t lie, it did not have to go through him being sold as slave and suffering all he went through.
Nevertheless, even in what satan meant for evil, God still turned it around for good. Child of God, we serve a God who owns times and creates contingencies, yet there is wisdom to stay on course and not be a victim of indiscretion. Learn to seek God’s counsel before you abort purpose.
Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. The scriptures speak of a man able to tame his mouth as one able to bridle his entire body. It shall be said of me that by the help of your spirit this is true of me and I carry the wisdom to incubate the seeds you plant and increase, to the glory of your name. Amen!
