STAYING ON COURSE

“You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.” Galatians 5:7-8 NIV

A lot of things can lead a man/ woman to depart from faith or to subscribe to a deceptive way other than the way of Christ.

Some of the most common I have seen and heard as a minister, is the lack of discipleship, sound doctrine and rootedness in community. A person who lacks either or all three is most susceptible to be led astray by familiar spirits or false teaching.

Paul says in our theme scripture that this kind of persuasion does not come for Christ, because our Lord’s message is a ministry of reconciliation. There should never be an offense, a prophecy, a tribulation, an experience or a belief that severs you from Christ or His church. That is the work of devils. If you hurt, hurt in community. If you grieve, grieve in community. If you rejoice, rejoice in community. The only way for a branch to grow and live is to be connected to its tree which also is connected to its root. Apart from that, it dies! Stay on course, child of God. Praise Him!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. I lean entirely on the leading of your spirit, your word and the community of believers you have surrounded me with for growth and support. I know where there is unity you command a blessing and it shall not be said of me that I forsook the way of our Lord, in Jesus name. Amen!
