HOPE IN TIMES OF TURMOIL
“The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he guides it wherever he pleases.” Proverbs 21:1 NLT
In many nations, when it is time for elections there is a lot of emotional and physical unrest among the people, especially in nations that have historically experienced abuse at the hands of merciless leaders.
In Psalm 2:10, one of the most notorious kings to have been on earth, David advises his peers to be wise, to be warned meaning accepting of counsel and to serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. David is telling us that whether your leaders believe or not, there is a high standard of accountability to which God holds them in each respect. It may not look like there is any justice being served but remember that the end of a thing is better than its beginning (Ecclesiastes 7:8).
You who are discerning, do not undermine the gift of discernment you have through the Holy spirit and its ability to lead you as you exercise your civic duty to vote. Submit your concerns and desires to the Lord and trust that He will lead you to the leader whose heart is malleable and teachable in His hands, even if to your physical eyes it may not seem so. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Father I thank you for this word. I thank you for our leaders and the peace you have ordained for the nations of the world. I thank you that you have given me and other saints in my community the wisdom and discernment to actively participate in the works you have set out to do for our nation. We rely on your wisdom to make the crooked paths straight, in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
