HUMILITY IN THE SECRET PLACE

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:6 NIV

Our theme scripture has long been interpreted in the lens of not letting your left hand know what your right hand is doing, and in a way that is correct.

However, the profound truth of our Lord’s words in this text is to enter the place of prayer with a singular heart that hungers to know what the Lord desires to share in a particular moment. Similarly, in Matthew 25:29 Jesus speaks metaphorically of those that have and more shall be added while those that don’t would loose even that little they claim to have. When one lacks humility, they approach revelation with familiarity which in its turn breeds contempt — therein loosing an opportunity to receive more.

The opposite is also true, those that have learnt the rhythms of grace know that even repetition if from the Lord might not mean the same thing twice, therein approaching it with wonder and awe. Child of God, learn to be like a little child before your Father.

There is nothing that delights our heavenly Father like communing with us, so much so that He chose to dwell in us. Do not take such a privilege for granted! Hallelujah.

Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. May the communication of my faith always be made effectual as I acknowledge every good thing that is in me that is of Christ, to the glory of your name, Amen!
