LITTLE LEAVEN (VI)

“Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.” Romans 16:19 NIV

During the last few days, I have engaged us in different conversations concerning all different and subtle ways presumably ‘good things’ may be used against us, the church, as footholds.

However, Paul speaks of wisdom in that which is good and innocence in that which is evil. In John 12:32, the Lord Jesus tells us that when He is ‘lifted’, He will draw men to himself. The word translated lifted literally means exalted or raised to dignity; in other words if Christ is exalted, whether in teaching, in worship, in song or dance or whatever fellowship at hand —He will draw people to Himself.

Culture today is standing up against this sole and simple truth and my guess is if many understood the simple reality of the finished work of Christ, they wouldn’t go to such great lengths to amass crowds or manipulate any situations to maintain those that are there. Preaching Christ is the only way, and it is ENOUGH.

Prayer: Father thank you for this wisdom. Your word assures me that I have all that I need for life and godliness and thanks to your spirit I live, move and have my being in you. I am wise in what is good and simple concerning what is evil for I can discern what has eternal bearing on my soul from what doesn’t, in Jesus name. Amen!
