NONE TAKES IT FROM ME
“Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?” “Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.) When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.” John 18:4-6 NIV
In Exodus 3:14, God introduces Himself to Moses as “I AM.” In our theme scripture, Jesus echoes this divine identity, using the same Greek phrase, “I AM He.”
At His words, an entire detachment of soldiers—armed and in force—fell backward. Why? Because even in surrender, Jesus was in full control. This moment reminds us that His life wasn’t taken; it was willingly given (John 10:18). Child of God, Jesus came on assignment—and He fulfilled it with intention and power so that we might live victoriously and eternally with Him.
As we reflect on His sacrifice, let us remember: His Word still holds that same power. It still calls the dead to life, shifts atmospheres, and dismantles the plans of the enemy.
Prayer: Father, thank You for this truth. Fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith. I’m fully persuaded that what You’ve started in me, You will surely complete. You never begin what You won’t finish. Be glorified in my life, now and forever. Amen.
