”The hopes of the godly result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing.“ Proverbs 10:28 NLT

The Hebrew word translated expectation is also likened to a cord, a flexible string of ropes tied together strong enough to hold or connect one thing to the other.

In Hebrews 11, the Bible says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. In other words, expectations are ground for hope, it’s the bed on which hope lies down. It is a false statement for a believer to say “I will not put my hopes up or have any expectations” for that is fake humility.

When you believe in the God of all possibilities, believe big and believe strong. Believe also that He has the power to correct and guide you into the right paths when you put your hopes in Him truly and remain teachable.

The nature of our flesh may be subject to error, but remember that in you is a counselor, comforter, and teacher to show you the way in your obedience. Living otherwise is living in fear, proving that you have not been perfected in love (1 John 4:18).
In Isaiah 54, He tells a barren woman to enlarge her house because her descendants will burst out in numbers. That is the God you serve; He calls what be not as though it is (Romans 4:17). Insist therefore on His vision, hold fast to His word for He has the final say. Be courageous and bold in your hope and expectation for surely it shall not be cut off (Proverbs 23:18).

Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for this word. My hope rests in the one that never fails, and I walk with an expectation of good to come. I am learned in the ways of the spirit, and I am attuned to do as He leads me always, in Jesus name. Amen!
