ON REPENTANCE

“Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath.” Psalms 38:1 NIV

If you have ever experienced grave displeasure with someone whom you love and long to make proud, like a parent to child, a mentor, a spiritual authority and the likes, then you can relate to this passage.

David echoes a prayer that really is the cry of every saint’s heart, who is of course willing to please the Father in everything they partake in. Its to know that you can bear with any other anger and disappointment but not that of your Lord. Child of God, our hearts have not yet been truly surrendered if the Lord’s displeasure doesn’t cut to our conscience. True transformation cannot be complete if you carry no hearty hatred for error.

Be teachable. Be yielded. Praise the Lord!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. I abhor what is evil and cling to what is good. My deepest longing is in pleasing you and I will that your help by the spirit be evident in the fruit I bear, in Jesus name. Amen!
